cclalahmebotwnov2012I just wanted to write a few words to wish all the Freestylin’ Family a very happy, prosperous and healthy New Year, and to say a massive thank you to everybody who has come to the events and supported.  Also to the DJ’s for giving their all to bring us the best in the music we all love to listen and dance to!! You have been stars!!

We hope we can do it all again in 2013. We are hosting  VyBE in Feb, which we love, not least because of the great music and venue, and a chance for us girls to get dressed up and be in posh surroundings!! Freestylin’ continues in Manchester (Matt and Phreds) in March, June, August and December (mostly Bank Holidays so we don’t have to get up early on Monday morning). There will also be Cassinelli’s Reunion party on 11th May, something people have been asking for, for sometime, and The Blackpool Mecca Reunion party for the 4th year running in November!! We are also looking at other things and hope to add a few more dates for other parties as we move through the year!! Keep watching the posts on Facebook and on this website!!

Thanks also to everyone who have put other events on. I attended some splendid parties in 2012, The Dunkenhalgh, The Ritz, Soul Undergound, Soul Kandi, Soul Purpose, Soulful Dance@, Bryan Wakelin, Rafters Reunion and other George Powell events. Thanks to the promoters for putting these events on. I don’t know what we would do if these nights were not available to us!! I know we say goodbye to Soul Purpose after 8 years I was told, of fabulous party nights. I for one will miss you and special thanks for giving us some great times at Sketchley Grange!

I have seen some brilliant live perfomances this year too. Markus Miller, Gregory Porter (twice as he was so brilliant the first time at Southport,) Lalah Hathaway, Mario Biondi, Kirk Wallum. Melba Moore and John Stoddart, to name but a few. I wouldn’t have missed them for the world. All fabulous events!! One other that I must add. I went to an event in Birmingham where my good friend Nicole Mitchell from Dallas was performing for a charity based in Birmingham, to raise money for a refuge there for anyone who has experienced violence at home. Nicole’s performance was wonderful and so were the other vocalists who performed there. Coco Brown, Juliette Farrell, and the women’s Birmingham Gospel Choir. Now I may have got that slightly wrong, but it was all put together by Godfrey Fletcher and I think he and the other’s involved did a fabulous job, and all for a very worthy cause too!! Not a dry eye in the place after the choir had been on!! Take a bow and I hope we can get you to come to Manchester in the not too distant future!

Thanks to the artists as well, for coming to our own events and letting us hear them live!! Special thanks to Natasha Watts, Chidi and of course Dolls Combers from Italy who all graced us with their presence in 2012! Wonderful PA’s and thoroughly nice people as well. More live acts this year hopefully.

Special thanks to my partner in crime Colin, who has guided me, and pointed me in the right direction and without his knowledge and expertise Freestylin’/Freestylin’ Promotions would not exist as it does today.

So I know I’m a bit late with this, but HapPy NeW YeAR everyone as we look forward to a tremendous big happy 2013!!

Kind regards

Jan 🙂
